what a weekend! i am glad i booked today off work (oh the luxury of a lie in til 8am!!)
i started off doing a morning of fence judging fence 12 in the BE100 at Highclere. an uneventful fence (apart from one lady who went straight past it!!) but was in a great spot so i could see the riders over fences 5 through to mine
the rest of Sat avo was spent getting the grey one ready for Milton Keynes BE90 on Sun.
onto MK.. never been there before so it was a new venue/course for Andy and me. it was one of those days that looks a bit rubbish on paper but i actually left feeling pretty happy for some reason!
although i got there with plenty of time to spare i still managed to faff about too much and only had 15 mins to warm up for the dressage (and i forgot my stock!!) he still did a pretty sweet test i thought and judging by the marks he has got for the last year i though 34/35 but judge thought 38.5.. oh well!
onto SJ, our nemesis.. course was nice, up to height but not too spooky so perfect. he was full of beans in the ring and jumping well but unfortunately i fiddled when i should have sat up and waited into no2 and no8 (both uprights on a related distance from a spread) and we had them down. but no stops and no spooks so i was chuffed with that!!
onto XC and i was looking forward to it as the ground was perfect for the grey beast! a spot of rain as we started but nothing compared to later on in the day! nothing on the course that worried me but in true Andy style he caught me out twice!! he ducked out at no7 the corner and then spooked badly at the next fence too so i had to represent, so 40 pens for us... but having said that he gave me a great feel over some of the other fences, the double of steeplechasers, the third to last and the last to name a few. we had a hairy moment over the open ditch as he jumped to the left and locked onto the BE100 b element but i managed to pull him off at the last minute!!
but still i was pleased as he is not showing any signs of the behaviour that plagued us last year so i am v happy just to be having fun with him again
onto yesterday and i was back at Highclere for a full days fence judging the Int and Adv. i was on fence 11 ab for the Int, the sunken road, the fence rode well all day with only one taking the alternative and one rider getting E'd at part b for 3 refusals overall on course. i was with another lady and a lovely couple with their little dog and we had a great time exchanging stories etc in between riders! onto the afternoon and i went onto fence 14 in the Adv, a mahoosive saw bench. it rode very well and all riders went clear so that was good
phew, that was a long one! thanks for reading and i hope you all had a nice long weekend
here is a link to a sweet pic of the beast jumping the corner second time round
i hope it works!!
