is it me or does this pony look a bit on the slim side.

it might just be the photo angle

i agree with pie.. I'd prefer to see a horse slightly under weight as apose to over weight. It looks undermuscled and wormy more than underweight.. The angle doesnt help.. it makes the horse look very narrow,

i only got ridden picsd and cant really see on them..
super_kat knowns how thin he is lol. He is healthy and happy so i dont care..
im proud not to have an obese horse lol/

I'm with you, and would much rather see a horse slightly under weight, than over weight, far less risk of long term health problems. What is the obsession these days with fat horses?

See what I don't get is if you where to condition score that pony it looks like it would be about 2 to me -

Flat rump either side of backbone
Ribs just visible
Narrow but firm neck
Backbone well covered

Yep, ted is a bit.......'pointy', but he looks good and he's happy.
Regarding the ad, it's just coming out of winter, nobody knows i it winters well or not/if it's a poor doer etc. The spring grass is coming through, a bit of doctor green will soon perk him up.

Thanx kat.. Teds a 2 on the condition score of 0-5
This too me is not a bad weight irf thehorse looks well.
The on in the ad is a 2 without a doubt.

I wouldnt have said it looks that happy TBH. It's eyes seem a bit dead.

My boy has been on restricted everything over winter and is coming out a 3/4! He went into the winter a 3!!

I will admit that we had a pony that was that thin once, the vet aged it about 20 and said that it was not long for this earth.

I also think its a tad funny there are no side on pics.

It is 15. People with older horses will know how difficult it can be to keep condition on them as they get a bit older, some horses just dont winter well.

If you look at it's chest it just seems a "narrow all over" pony. Certainly wouldn't like it any slimmer.

I'd pick that weight over the obese welshie in the other ad.

I'd be terribly worried if my old mare looked like that, I know it can be difficult to keep weight on over the winter tho. Having looked at the website, a few of their horses look rather lean

Tbh (and shoot me for saying this) although i agree i prefer to have less weight coming into summer, i would not want my horse looking like that. Yes some horses are that slim and happy and healthy with it, but that horse does not look comfortable and happy, it just doesnt sit easy with me for some reason.

I think there have been a whole load of ads by this person, all look a bit sad, and all must 'sell by easter' so maybe not the classiest place ever to advertise........ Or maybe I am just a pessimist.
