I am doing my first affiliated prelim on Sunday

after competing unaffilated fairly regularly for the last 6 months. I know I don't need to be a member of BD to do this, but please could you advise whether I or the horse need to wear anything different than we would for unaff?

Usually for unaff I turnout as for showing; tweed, shirt and tie, dark gloves, cream breeches, long leather boots, spurs. Horse wears GP saddle, happy mouth french link snaffle bridle, cavesson noseband, no martingale, no boots. He is trimmed, pulled and plaited.

Do I need bridle numbers or anything? And can I carry a whip?

Many thanks

Don't worry too much about a bridle number. I have done loads of tests where I forgot mine and I just told the judge my name and number when trotting past the box before starting the test!
