Thank you.
Madmare you are not being thick I couldn't find it there either.

just to add to this... the points levels are going up, does that mean they will adjust the points they allocate to downgrade horses??

There is very little (if anything) on the BD website about this at the moment. I think it gave the details in the June / July BD mag.

I would give BD a call with any of your queries. I did any they were very helpful!

All the changes take place on 1 December ie.

* 14 point "buffer zone" before a rider has to become Open. Riders who are currently Open but have fewer than 14 points can apply to be down-grouped from 1 December.

* increase in the maximum points per level for horses. Prelim goes up by 12 to 49, all others go up by 50.

* points awarded to downgraded and imported horses will also change in line with the increases - but will only apply to new applications. Horses which have already been downgraded/imported will not go up.

The 2008 Rule book is in the process of being finalised. Once that is done and the changes are formally approved, I'm sure an appropriate article will appear.

Alibabe - not sure why you're not getting your horse assessed now. The longer you leave it, the more experienced he will be (I assume) therefore the more points you'll be awarded. Better to get it done sooner rather than later.

Or did you mean downgraded? Same applies. Have him downgraded now and you'll be awarded fewer points than after 1 Dec.

I know but I still want him to be able to at least walkr and trot nicely or I feel I'll get laughed at for evern registering him BD! But yes need to get my self into gear and re book it.

I think the 'buffer' zone is a really good idea.

What happens if say you qualify for the elementary restricted regionals, but then go on to qualify for the medium regionals? Do you have to ride the elementary regionals at open level?

Yes - that hasn't changed.

If a rider qualifies as Restricted at two levels, and choses to compete in both at the Regionals, they must ride as Open at the lower level.

If the rider only competes at the lower level, they can stay Restricted.

I've not been BD re for a while - horse has 98 points - does that mean I can do Novice again but only in Open level as I've gained at least 23 (poss few more) points at Ele?

Not that I want to do a novice - was hoping to come out Med!
