I've been looking at different bedding options and have some questions about wood pellets.

I currenttly use flax - dust free, good base, very absorbent.

My questions are:

How dust free are the pellets once they have expanded?

Also do you think it would be Ok to mix with flax, may be put the pellets on the floor where the horse wees and then cover with flax?

Any other comments gratefully received.

Thank you

Hi i also use flax atm although cannot believe how expensive this and shavings are getting!!!!

We used wood pellets for a while underneath flax and it works really well. Super Duper absorbent!

I had to take my pojo off it as she kept eating them though.

Yes they stayed dust free (i believe)

It's better to deep bed on the wood pellets leaving the wee down for a few days etc, just taking the poo off the top.

Honestly it worked really well for me (while it lasted!! :L)

Thanks, which make did you use?

We take the wet out each week at the moment and the beds are at least a foot deep but very soild bases which I like would you get that with the pellets?

I was on flax last year and have just swapped to pellets. I'm finding it much much easier/quicker/cheaper and less smelly. Most importantly I don't find it dusty: you need to mix the pee back in to keep it moist.

I have used a shavings base with rubber mats, i'm sure you could mix the flax with the pellets if you wanted to.
