Does anyone else have this issue?

in summer i ride in dublin aristocrat field boots, theyre a bit old, but they find them very comfy.

in the winter i switch to mountain horse rimfrosts..

Since ive made the switch to my winter boots everyone keeps exclaiming how much still my lower leg is and that i generally seem to nag less and my heels stay down/etc and congratulate me for my hard work/etc when really nothing has changed except that the boots seem thicker and more grippy' than my summer boots..

but im not sure why the MH boots are *so much* better for me?

im starting to wonder wether to change to MH boots for summer but i do feel like this would be cheating a bit? :o

What do you think?

Well it could be to do with the stirrup control system thingy on the mountain horse boots. Although I'm sure dublin have their own equivalent.

Or it could be the fact that they are long boots and so supporting your ankle better.

Might be worth trying a mountain horse pair for summer, I have the sportives and they are very comfy, fairly warm in winter and not mega hot in summer either.

MH boots have an amazing ability to put and keep your leg and foot exactly where it should be. I have no idea how they do it but i remember when i got my first pair i was telling everyone how amazing it was! I wont wear anything else now!!

I've found this with my new Dublin Pinnacles. Changed, and literally overnight my leg position is 1000000 times better.

However, before I was riding in very restrictive and cheap joddy boots and chaps and think that acutally I just needed my ankle to be more free!

I love my MH boots. I have the High Caliber, Before I got them I always wore chaps, treated myself to a pair of MH boots and I found the same, my legs were so much better. Only prob now is if I try to ride in chaps, I cant ride!!
I think its because mine are hmmm rather restrictive :o

whoops! should have said both summer and winter boots are long boots - i dont think i could ride at all in joddy boots anymore! haha!

am glad i am not the only one - am going to have a think now about perhaps buying some MH boots fo summer - any suggestions??

I have found that since buying some MH High Riders my leg is much more secure too. They seem to have very grippy soles, and feel very sturdy, but don't prevent you using your leg as I have found 'traditional' leather boots can (well my Toggi ones did anyway).
Great for when your horse has a bouncy day!

i found it was because i couldnt actually move my leg in the boots as they didnt allow for ankle/foot movement! haha
