I'm looking for a nice big (over 16.1) strong, powerfull movements, flashy looking, graded/licensed etc must have good temp etc MUST NOT BE A TB.
To suit a well made, 16hh, clean limbed good temp, TB mare very straight, correct nice paces just needs a bit more lift.
Thanks

A good athletic RID?? Avanti Amorous Archie (available chilled semen) or myown Lady's Tralee Raj (natural cover only - as long as you don't mind GREY!)

RID's always a possibility, but I think they are a bit too heavy for my mare, love your own stallion really nice horse.

I should add I'm very fussy just like most breeders.

I know he might not be the most fashionable stallion out there but I completely love Marco du Fot (Selle Francais), he just made me go WOW in the flesh.

Otherwise what about Chilli Morning, nice solid looking type and got all the moves?

I should hope you ARE fussy! And Raj thanks you for the compliment! But when you say 'too heavy', do you mean in terms of the 'chunkiness' of the foal - or the actual covering problem.

If the former, DON'T think that an RID will produce a great lump out of a relatively light mare - particularly if she's part/full TB, The TB is pre-potent and most RIDxTB mares throw far more to the TB than the RID in stature. If you're worried about an RID squashing your mare (and they can!) then AI is your answer.

This mare is by an RID out of a TB mare

Her foals by Raj (who IS one of the bigger RIDs around
grin.gif
) who are 3/4 ID are only middleweights - and MOVE!

Similarly, this mare - who is a TB x unregistered irish mare - is herself JUST a middleweight. Her foals by Raj end up looking like -

He's tall - 17hh at nearly 4 - but he's only MW - and hell can he move! The mare has VERY TB action - but Raj has lifted her to the point where - although this chap looks like he'll go eventing, he could just as easily do well in dressage.

And - of course - with the RID you DO win where temperament is concerned!

For adding size, omph and super temperament, I like Showmaker on a blood mare, but thats not going to breed you an eventer I wouldnt think

For a more all rounder how about something like Blue Hors Leredo, I think he will work well on a blood mare and good jumping blood in his pedigree

I have to say I do like what Lauriston is producing to more TB type mares, nice looking, correct, and they should jump and do a decent job in any sphere.

A stallion that works well on TB mares is Atlantic Dancer .
This year he had two graded sons obtaining premium status.
I have now seen numerous offspring out of different types of Tb and have never seen a bad one.
Every foal bar one has acheived premium status at their grading.
Not bad going for an old chap, I understand he is available by AI or natural

My boy Valeur R http://www.tayloredequestrian.co.uk/stallions_at_stud.htm would possibly suit.

He was placed nationally in the international young dressage horse classes, scored 9/10 on his jumping at his grading and has a very good brain.

He has only just started covering recently but the foals he has on the ground have so far been the spitting image of him with elevation and have also been known to jump out of their fields so they have also inherited that aspect!!

I myself have covered a TB mare with him who is due in May next year.

Every mare, bar my own, has taken first time with him, but mine is a second cycle mare.

I'm not sure where you are but you would be more than welcome to come and see him in the flesh.

Have heard a lot of good reports regarding Morayfirth Sportshorse Stud. They are in Scotland and have two Licensed/Approved stallions.

try Jupiter du Thot selle francais - stands in NI but does AI too. Ballinteggart Stud

He is eventing (not 2009 due to lack of funds apparently) but there's video on his website of his grading, Xc and SJ. We have a 7 yr old by him who moves like a dressage horse, jumps the top of the wings and is really bold. He's going to do workers next year....

just a thought!

Yes, actually I couldn't agree more about the MFS stallions. I nearly used Vision myself and went and met him too. Lovely animal! The only reason I didn't use him is that I didn't breed again - simples

Don Aqui I have yet to see in the flesh, but he is certainly a stallion I have heard wonderful reports about and some of these are from people who were connected to him in Germany, before he came to Scotland, so it's not like they have a vested interest in him!

Val is a stallion that I cannot WAIT to go and see! Next time I visit MFH_09 I am going to make her drag me (kicking and screaming LOL) to see him. If I don't go down the RID or CB route next time a breed from my mare (a WB, who I've already used a TB and also a WB on), then I think it will be him I use.
