Another British Horse Sold Abroad :-( Don VHP Z

Massive congratulations to Shirley at Brendon Stud for producing such a quality boy though....he is very special indeed.

Why? He's a great ambassador for British horses and has a chance at being truly great with a world class rider.

Damn right I would be over the moon if I had produced a horse like that and had been sold on to a fantastic rider!

But at the end of the day business is business.

Well done to the Brendon Stud for producing a fantasic horse.

There is more to the situation than meet the eye. Shirley (and the whole Brendon stud team) have done a cracking job with him and I hope she is very proud that she has produced 2 (that I know of) international horses in so many years.

After years when we didnt produce horses of the top quality I personally am delighted that British bred horses are now in such demand, tho it would be nice if some were staying with Brit riders.

I might be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that he was purchased abroad as a youngster, not British bred. Brendon is a large set up, and very successful too, selling horses pays the wages. Well done them

Fantastic horse. Well done Brendon Stud.

Horses are business and this again illustrates that in Britain we don't have enough wealthy buyers to keep horses in this country hence the reason a lot get sold abroad.

Cant say i blame the Light family at all! They have done a superb job producing a top horse like him, and Meredith michaels Beerbaum is a fantastic jockey and hopefully will carry on Don VHP's massively successful career path as Louise Pavitt did!

Unfortunately no British buyer stepped in to purchase him and the Light's knew he was a superstar horse!

Hopefully enough people will have already used his semen in this country to produce a few more like him!

Cant wait to see the foal from the embryo transfer from Sussex Caretino and Don VHP! Think Brendon stud have managed two of these :D

Lotto win for me please very soon......

Yes he was purchased abroad as a youngster and completely produced by Brendon Stud - they also produced Warrior who competed for Azerbaijan (sp?) at the Olympics. there is some great video on you tube of youngsters coming through from both of these stallions that they bred who will be both British bred AND produced so will be very exciting to see them in years to come.

A great horse who has been produced fabulously by a great team! Yes he isn't British bred but is as near as darn it British seeing as he was bought as a 2 yr old and produced here since then. A fabulous job again for the team and if things go right we will be seeing a lot more of this boy!

The stud do indeed have some fabulous youngsters coming through (and a very special yearling by Don VHP who is almost a clone of his sire) and the Sussex Caretino x Don VHP foals should be amazing. I know the stud also has frozen still for him but how much that will be offered for I do not know.
