Why is a size 12/14 top, in ladies riding wear, considered a LARGE??? Jeepers, how small are women riders supposed to be FFS??

I am on eBay now looking for a XC top. I like them nice and loose so what size and I supposed to be looking for? An XXXXXXXL? Okay, just joking, but since when is an adult woman's size 12 considered a LARGE? Grrrrr

I know!! I wouldnt say size 12 is skinny but at least average (not that i can talk right now im sooo overweight since i had a nasty riding accident and couldnt really do much so comfort ate - but at least i am trying to loose it now :S!!).

I swear they are trying to say small sizes are not good then they go and brand normal sizes as too big!! Some people...... !

Ha ha i have the opposite prob, i am a size eight and end up either buying a xxsmall or a childs size 11-12

I think you will find that the 'average' size of a woman is a 16 now. All the improvements in nutrition and health over the years means that with each passing generation we get bigger - and its not just about eating junk food.

I bought a pair of Tottie riding jeans size 12 (was a 10 at the time) and could I do them up? Could I heck as like

Why can't they all follow the same sizing pattern? Surely its not that difficult

I think it's due to the fact 14s have got bigger, so they're more like the 16s of 25 years ago which were large!

I have this all the time. I am a bog standard twelve at the bottom and don't even have big thighs or bum - riding stuff is always too small. Because I live outside the UK, postage is prohibitive so I always end up buying size 16 stuff and hoping that if it is a real 16 I can shrink it to fit! I bought some ladies pull on light weight cotton jodhs and I interrogated the lovely lady at ECW at great length as to the actual sizes of Small, Medium and Large. We decided to go for medium as they were supposed to be 12-14. They didn't fit my friend's eight year old daughter!!
