Further to a previous question (I have now taken the photos down though!) I found that a horse I know is a bay sabino. She has, to my uneducated eye, roaning throughout her body, with white on her face. I was reading up on the different genes, and if I recall correctly she has some white/grey in her tail, near the top, which I think is a bit like the rabicano skunk tail. So does this mean she has rabicano as well, or can you get this in a sabino?

Yes, you can get both. They are possibly related to each other, but sabino is very complicated and at the moment you can only DNA test for Sabino1.

Ah no, what I mean is, can you get white in the tail as a result of sabino? So can she be 'just' sabino...or does this mean she is probably rabicano as well?

Sabino can cause Gulastra Plumes (grey tails with no grey gene) but it is not restricted to the top like the Rabicano skunk tail.

This is a very extreme and striking Gulastra plume.

I saw her this morning and the grey area is just at the top of her tail, extending downwards a little to a point, but the majority of her tail is dark, so I don't think this is a gulastra plume?

I have this with my youngster. he has silver within his tail and the breeder said to cut it out if i didnt like it but there far to much to cut out he also has it in his mane but thats mostly at the top, he is bay. i just find it unusal and always wanted to know why? his sire was palomino but i dont know if that will effect it lol. i have a photo!
