Another DD horse

He is only a 4 year old and in poor condition so with good food and someone gradually teaching him how to work correctly this would improve and the muscle under the neck would be transferred to topline.

Faracat..hi :). Yes, he's being squashed ! Why do they think the have to sit on them to demonstrate they've been ridden. He's only a baby still!

Thanks for link PMP.. He's lovely.. Do you think he will get to 15 if he's now just 3 years ? I don't want any smaller than that really. Any other comments welcome too. Bloke not sure if he's a X or not or if so what he's crossed with. Anyone?? Wasn't even sure if he was full bred..unlikely I think.

Looks arab x welsh to me.

Just careful with his confo baubles...I wouldn't like to see a 2 year old that dippy looking in its back that young, and his feet/legs look very upright. He looks chestnut flaxen also :)

You said it better then me - that's what I meant by spinally weak, although it would be easier to judge without the rider.

No way on this planet is he palomino.

Oooohhhh :( I thought he was struggling with the adult man weight on his back..plus I think he may be bum high still ? His poor back looks like its caved in and his head's shot up. Hard to tell with the chap on board really.

Festively Faracat :) ... I Looked the pangare gene up..(gosh colour genetics is fascinating) Says it's rare in Arabs so must be from t'other side. I love his colour but that alone is not a good reason to buy him.
Any other comments on conformation welcome. :)

Bum high growth spurts shouldn't make the horse 'dippy' though, the spine still stays relatively straight, just obviously higher at one end, rather than concave/weak looking, well what I've always found with our babies anyway. I'd have a good old feel of it and prod about for any discomfort, and see him on level ground stood up. Take a photo, and have another look after also if in doubt in person :)

Give him a year out in a hilly field on good grub [though to be fair, he doesn't look underweight, just in need of some vits and mins in there to give him a bit of a shine through], and providing it is just a baby spurt and mild discomfort from being ridden...then I'm sure he'll strengthen up. Have a good look at them front feet and pasterns though!

Thank you muchly CS..:). Am now busy studying conformation! Not easy to visualise with man-on-board .. Will take photos from all angles tomorrow and will think it through ..

As he's got arab in him, you would expect him to have more upright hooves than some other breeds. The pasterns look OK to me. I do wonder if he's toe-in on the fronts, but that could be the lighting on the photo and you will easily spot that once you are standing in front of him. If he's slightly toe-out in front, don't worry as that straightens up when their chest develops.

ETA. If you want a fun allrounder, then a minor conformation fault (that wont cause soundness issues) should not hold the horse back in any way. Temperament and trainability are more important.

Aw.. Thanks Faracat..I was going to have a good study of friend's Arab tomorrow for comparison. He's got very upright sturdy feet I think. I was trying to find a decent reference for conformation of young horses too.
Man i spoke to said he's got passport and was bred by an Arab breeder in Notts ..forget the name he said.

PS..love Arab temperament..well if friend's little boy is anything to go by .

My grey has nice conformation but she went through the fuglies when she was younger. :p

This photo makes her look awful on her NF pastern (too long and sloping, OF pastern too long and no hooves ;) ) but she was actually putting more weight down that leg (hence the low fetlock). She grew into the pasterns as she was rising two when the photo was taken.
