Another dog - eek!

Like we need four?
Went to see labrasnores breeders today as they wanted to catch up with her, which was nice. When we chose her they had a lovely dog there, a field trial dog gorgeous and smiley too, not that thats relevant!
Three years down the track they still have him but he can now retire (hes 6) and they have four young dogs to bring on. Would we like the have him? Asked OH who said yes so now just waiting to see when.
A couple of questions... how do you stop him cocking his leg everywhere? He has never been in a house in his life, although apparently is clean in his kennel.
Should we get him done?
Small Boy is very excited and can't wait to take him picking up.

Neutering should stop him cocking his leg, one other thing they are retiring him at 6yrs old, gun dogs go on for a lot longer working. Im asking myself has he had a hard working life and its beginning to show.

Ive got an old Lab staying with me belonging to a friend and they bought him age 5yrs as a working dog as my friends husband shoots. This dog is now 10yrs old and is riddled with rheumatism and they are making the decision to have him put to sleep before Xmas. This is not because he can no longer work but he is no longer mobile and is on constant painkillers.

He has gone as high as hes going to go field trial wise, he still goes picking up twice a week but now the younger dogs are up and running hes not getting out so much.
Anyway, they have just emailled to say not just yet. Mmmm...theres a limit to how old I want him tbh!

Has that made you rethink now, if he has gone so high in working trials Im surprised they dont want to breed from him, also a working dog like that would be worth a lot of money. It just sounds a bit iffy to me.
