now the plan is, to take flash for our first attempt at showing at the weekend, at a local show. He goes nicely in a snaffle or a double.

We're planning on doing a ridden coloured class (double for that) and a 'ridden youngster' class. All it says under that is that it's for horses ages 4 - 7yrs. Would it be best to use a double or a snaffle for this? It's not specified on the schedule.

I would be inclined to use a snaffle (as it is a novice class as such)- but I am by no means a showing expert

If he goes nicely in either bit, I'd go for the snaffle - some local judges are very set in their ways about horses in certain classes being in snaffles, but few will be put off by a horse being in a snaffle rather than a double in a young horse class.
