Hi i sold a bit on ebay just before Christmas, transaction appears to have gone well. Item was delivered within a couple of days of posting (I've checked on p.o. tracker) but still waiting for buyer to leave feedback.
Is it normal for seller to leave feedback before buyer? as i was waiting for them to leave feedback first, thought maybe busy over Christmas but checked and looks as if they have had about 6 transactions since mine. Should i send a message checking they are happy with bit, or just get on and post my feedback?
Thanks.

I always wait until I hear the buyer is happy, either by a message or via feedback, before posting any for them.

A friend insisted that the buyer had done their part by paying - she then got a nasty neg, ( Postie left parcel outside & it got wet and refund was refused) and had little recourse.

My view is you could have a customer in a store pay & then tip over a display on the way out -would you give positive for this?

Wait, you have 90 days from the sale.

Surely the buyer has done their bit by paying? If I have paid promptly I expect the seller to accept that and to give me positive feedback for my part in the transaction. I deliberately do not give feedback to sellers who expect me to feedback first. It really annoys me that I've done my bit and paid immediately and they choose not to give me my positive feedback. If there is an issue and I want to leave neutral or negative feedback, that should be a seperate issue from the paying part.

If you are really keen to get feedback for whatever reason you could send them a message checking that they are happy and saying you're new to this so would really appreciate some good feedback to prove to other members that you are a trustworthy seller, but there is no obligation on their part to feedback. Maybe worth a go though.

But i feel that i have done my part of the transaction. I feel i described the item accurately, carefully packaged the item and posted the item promptly sending it 1st class when i had stated that i would post by 2nd class. All the buyer has done is bid and pay, which obviously i am grateful for.
Whenever i have brought anything i have left feedback as soon as the item has arrived, as i want the seller to know i have the item and that i am happy with it.

It sounds like you're fairly new to selling on Ebay. Feedback is a voluntary thing so the buyer or seller do not have to leave any if they don't want to. I've done someting like 1300 transactions & when I look at some of the buyers feedback that they've left for others I see they never bother leaving any. In the end it doesn't really matter that much. It's better that no feedback is left rather than neutral or negative. You received the payment & that is the main thing.

As for one poster saying when they pay immediately for an item then they expext the seller to leave feedback for them straight away, I must say I don't. Until I know that the item has been delivered safely & the buyer is 100% happy with the transaction I do not consider that the transaction is over. When all is well I leave appropriate feedback.

I don't leave feedback until the buyer had.
I like to know all is well!

Some sellers leave feedback straight away ( ad doin as you put)!

But I like to be more involved and know its gone well.

I just send a friendly email and say hope they are happy with item, please could they leave feedback.
