Another embarassing problem post...

Doesn't that chafe?! :o

Nope :)

you have to choose the right thong, I don't wear the very stringy ones as they would be like cheese wire and there is nothing on them to actually cover your bits!

I have some nice sporty ones, which are extremely comfy. I much prefer them to a VPL, plus if you wear the wrong 'big' pants then they can ride up your bum to create their own thong - this is v uncomfortable when this happens so I just stick to a thong when competing! :D

Is anyone else reading this and wondering in slight panic whether they also suffer from moisture of the derriere in blissful ignorance?

No but I am wondering why anyone would feel the need to point out to someone they had a sweaty ass in the first place! Surely best to be blissfully ignorant!!

:( Could be the suede seat on my breeches after all then :( B****r!

As for the saddle... old fashioned steaming always brought my old velvet hats up like new...

OH LOL!!! :) I totally misread your post initially, then I read the word "saddle": but had this vision of you/me getting out a steam cleaner and putting it on your/my @rse!!! Oh bleddy h@ll, how funny. Sorry, I have this daft sense of humour, nice one :)

Hee Hee Heee. so glad I am not the only one with horse-related embarassing problems. Thanks all!! :D

Perhaps we could start 2 new cliques - the Sweaty Bottom Clique and The Too-Sore-Down-There To Ride Clique!!!

Have you tried fleece? Microfleece actually wicks moisture away from your body and it then evaporates ... many of us with cloth nappy babies rely on fleece wraps to wick moisture away from baby's bottom at night time - it works wonders and they will be dry in the morning, as will their bed.

Perhaps try getting some fleece liners from Ebay? They are shaped like a sanitary towel and very cheap ... or some fleece bottomed jodhpurs?

OK, so an update...

*breeches fabric doesn't seem to make a difference (but suede does take longer to dry!). Ditto running pants but do seem to dry quicker. However I didn't appreciate the gymnastics and lack of stickability in them and have decided sweaty bum is better than eating dirt!
*not had a chance to try fleece pants yet but see panty liner point below... not sure it would work.
*tried seat saver - no change
*tried reducing friction and did a whole 45 mins in a 2 point seat with little difference
*tried a carefully positioned, large panty liner and made no difference
*anti-perspirent did help a little but didn't prevent problem
*definitely worse when very hot and sweaty (today in the indoor it was scorching and definitely worse)
*haven't tried a thong yet as need to source one first

However, I have noticed that it may not so much be my bum (though that does get sweaty) as my back which was running today with sweat so I'm going to try long cotton t-shirt tucked into my waistband next.

I also came across this:

which I thought may be worth a try??

You are so brave and honest posting all that!
Gives me an opportunity to tell a cringeworthy story... apparently the 'sweat running down your back' thing is a well-known problem for chefs (working v hard in a v v hot environment all day) and one quick and easy solution is to shake flour (which is always to hand) down their backs to absorb the sweat...
but of course it gets all sticky and then hardens and then, ahem, apparently sticks to the hairs in the delicate derriere area... i'll leave the rest to your imagination! allegedly a new definition of agony...
so, it could be worse! What about a top that absorbs the sweat, an old-fashioned cotton aertex or similar?

V funny thread. Tho the thought of a misplaced panty liner dislodging itself at an inopportune moment seems far more embarrassing than a damp patch!

Nosey thats what I thought, far more embarrasing than the wet patch! lol, alos wouldn't the liner cause chaffing itself?

Try a top made of a wicking material, with a thin cotton one on top of it.

We used to combination when winter mountaineering and skiing. Sweat was wicked away from the body and was soaked up by the cotton.

Good luck!
