So it seems the countryside alliance has failed again in its bid to overturn the ban!!. Simon "scumbag" Hart is going to waste more money by taking the challenge to the European court.

Tally Ho Ho Ho!!!....................x

Like the legal process now moves on to the European courts.

Like the support the CA give to hunt officials accused of illegal hunting by LACS. And the resulting confusion over the 'reverse burden of proof' so that the IoW case and others are delayed by at least 6 months

Like YOUR hunt being in existence more than 2 years after the ban.

Maybe not 'improvements' as such but things could be a lot worse. The CA are doing a good job in difficult circumstances.

Just pay the subs.

The way things are going Cameron'll be in next and the ban will be repealed :D

I really can't see labour doing the whole thing again when they get in next time.

:D

Whoever is in next time there are far more important things for them to worry about than whether the ban on hunting stays or goes... Like national health service, adequate money for OAP's, getting benefit scroungers back to work, protecting us from terrorist threats, getting our forces home safely from Iraq and Afghanistan etc etc.

I agree. If the Tories get back in with a working majority (it is still a big if, despite recent events), political reality means they will have much bigger fish to fry. Of course they will say all the right things to hunt fanatics this side of an election to keep you all on board and knocking on doors for them during the election campaign, but 'events' will conspire against your cause if they win.

I think the Tories have had enough of the 'nasty party' label.

at least someone's trying to overturn the stupid bit of legislation....

IMO the lack of success has more to do with the cause than the legitimacy of the legal argument or the ability of the lawyers arguing the case.

What is highly unlikely is that we will get a Government in any time soon who will introduce sensible welfare and conservation based legislation on the issue of wild mammal population management.

Are you really so naive you think the Parliamentary process is that simple and straightforward? There is plenty of scope for anti-hunting MPs (and there will still be many of them still in the Commons in the event of a Tory victory) to force debate on the issue. I'm sure any new government will have much more pressing things to do.

It won't look good for any government to waste time on overturning the ban when there are far more important things to be doing. Far better, and easier, to let things rest.

"What is 'wildlife population management', and who is best placed to do the managing? "

A VERY good question. Take what has happened on Exmoor as an example. They have banned stag hunting - big deal. Red deer are controlled largely by farmers taking pot shots at them. Many are only wounded. There is a far too high proportion of hinds to stags which leads to a much faster rate of population growth.

Rather than identifying a group of people and spending hundreds of hours half banning their activities why not try and get a co ordinated management stategy for the red deer population that takes into account animal welfare, conservation, biodiversity and farming and tourism interests?

I can give you one good reason. It just doesn't make as good politics ans a massive totemic struggle that get's everyone excited and actually does [****] all for the interests of the wild red deer on Exmoor.

I'm glad you agree with me that with or without the hunt ban, deer have been/are being shot willy-nilly without any evidence-based approach concerning the need, effectiveness and humanity of such an approach.

You still haven't explained what you mean by 'wildlife management' though.

I shoot deer willy-nilly, I also shoot them nilly-willy, filly-dilly, hilly-billy, milly-pilly, and gilly-tilly. Would you want me to shoot them any other way?

However I also shoot them based upon sound management practices which are based upon evidence based practical management theory's. That have been proven to be effective and as humane as practically possible.

What do you do with yours?

A comedian called Soggy Brains! I bet you're a real side-splitter at stand up.

Tell me old Soggy one, which management practices do you employ?

I wonder how much this latest legal fiasco cost the CA. £200,000? £300,000? More or less? Perhaps we should make it into a game. That's a lot of tacky little badges to flog.

Why bother trying to over turn it? When the public realise its the most useless piece of rubbish since they introduced speed cameras, they'll begin to treat it with the same disdain.

Just think what money they plan to waste on the ECHR challenge in Strasbourg! They'll have to flog a whole load of super tacky badges to fund that.

Selling badges is a better fundraising activity than selling one's clinkered ringpiece, which is an activity the mincers from LACS seem to heavily indulge in.

Only when I'm taking the piss out of dim witted antis

That depends upon the circumstances, BAP, and agreed targets.

There is also the good old stand by of IIBID.

Why has the CA and others launched a legal fund if they're getting their legal advice free? Surely they're not obtaining money from their supporters under false pretences, are they?

"Fortunately, a HELL of a lot of top class barristers and solicitors hunt"

They may be good at hunting but so far their legal skills leave a LOT to be desired. LOL! LMFBO! ROTFL! etc....
