My 13.1hh new forest type is currently weigh taping at 438kg, I want him to be under 400kg by the spring and he's then going to straight away go onto strip grazing or a fatty paddock.
He can't do any exercise apart from walking out in hand and with work/daylight hours at this time of year I can't do this as much as I'd like. HE CANNOT be lunged or long reined.
He's out 24/7 in a two acre well grazed down field, this will be the field he's in all the time and he's out with one other cob.
He's not rugged and isn't clipped.
We also have no storage at field so all food is having to be kept in cars, he's currently having........
Am - 400g topspec lite balancer
One high fibre equi blox (fulmart feeds) 1kg mix of hay/oat straw
Pm - 2kg high fibre Horsehage - other horse has to have haylage
He is dropping weight and I don't to give him anything calorie rich but just concerned re fibre intake. I would need something that could easily keep in car so was wondering about adding some topspec fibre nuggets??
I can't give him haylage in am as not got a big enough car, other horses owner stores that in his 4x4
