Gorgeous George
Well-Known Member
A couple of people have asked how George has been getting on since his PSD op 5 months ago and I am pleased to say that things are still going well (touches wood and crosses fingers)!
He worked up to walking for 45 minutes, some ridden and some inhand and then we started trotting. At first the trotting felt really wibbly wobbly, but his strength has improved and he is now trotting really well
we are now up to 20 mins trotting a day which we have to stick at for a few more weeks and then it is canter time - excited and apprehensive about that milestone
Throughout the whole rehab George has been a complete saint, my YM said 'George has taken being laid back to a whole new level'!!
He had one little blip on Saturday when the wind and the deer in a neighbouring field had him hopping and bouncing around the arena, but he seems to have got over that now!
He is also now barefoot behind in the hope that his hooves will find the right balance for him and put less strain on his ligaments. He had a bit of a grumpy spell about the new sugar free hoof friendly diet, but his stomach got the better of him
I am so pleased with him, and it is wonderful to get pleasure from little things like being able to actually ride, or trot all the way round the school, or just giving him a hug
Thanks for reading
