Had the Locomute over the field today playing in the snow when she was approached by a lovely little GSD pup who proceeded to jump all over her the Locomute just stood there tail wagging as usual, owner comes running over "oh she must be in season" "definately not shes not due in till May, hes just being a pup she doesnt mind"
What came out of the womans mouth next seriously shocked me "would you like to use him as stud then I bet they would make some lovely puppies, he`ll be plenty old enough"

Lets just say what happened next wasnt pretty but she was left with complete understanding of my thoughts on that, she has basically bought him to breed and believes he`ll be ready once he turns 6 months ffs oh yeah and hes currently only 16 weeks

Words really do fail me, such a damn shame, such a lovely bloody pup who doesnt deserve whats a head of him

Jeez, can you track her down and steal him.

And what is so bloomin frightening is she will no doubt have loads of people keen to use him, I despair I really do.

So the first thing on her mind when her puppy wanted to socialize with your dog was that your dog was in season and that her puppy wanted sex?
Wonder where she got the idea that he would be ready to use as a stud dog at six months? Did you recommend that she needed to health test her puppy before mating and that e.g. HD x-ray isn't done until after 1 years of age (unless there is a problem) or do you think that she needed a health test herself?

Wonder if she is obsessed with sex/wants GSD's to take over the world or if she expects to get rich on stud fees?

Admittedly I've bought all my bitches, except the mongrel, with the thought that if they were/are suitable I would breed them but I've always thought of it as something in a small scale and the keyword is suitable. Being a cute puppy with functioning genitals is not enough to be suitable.

What a way to promote your stud dog, prove that he not only can see/scent another dog on a distance but that he also is capable of using his legs, by running up to said dog? And there I was trawling the internet, checking breed combinations to get a low inbred score (0,2 % with the stud dog I chose), that his eyes had been health checked etc. and still it never crossed my mind to ask if he could see, scent and run...

With an owner with such a vast dog knowledge, I wonder how that poor dog will behave when he's one year old? Will she still be owning him by then?

Oh she got the full run down of the correct way she should go about breeding, about the amount of GSDs in rescue and that if she does still breed from him that she will be just as responsible for the resulting puppies as the bitches owner.
I am hoping we see her again so that we can try and educate further and hopefully she can go on to give puppy a long and happy life

ARGH just been on GSD Rescue, they have an eight month old fella who had been booked in to PTS because he was pushing his boundaries. FFS.
Size of a horse though
