My boyfriend tells me I am mad but here is an excerpt from my note to my friend who is cat-sitting for me for two weeks.

"THANK YOU SO MUCH for looking after the Mitsi monster while we are away.

Mitsi has been honing her skills at suicide/ escape attempts.

If you open the kitchen window make sure you are in the kitchen otherwise she will sneak up on to the counter and climb over the plant pot and out of the window. I don’t usually open it (unless Seb has burnt something cooking).

The living room windows are on ventilate, but if you want to open them open the middle two as far as the string will allow (she can’t fit out of the gap) but close them if you go out.

The bedroom windows I normally open the outside window as wide as I want but only open the inside windows to two fingers width (although I think she can push them open!) and I usually don’t let her in the bedroom unless we are in there.

Feel free to keep her out of the bedroom if you want. She may scratch at the door though.

If she scratches the carpet or chews the book case there is some naughty spray in the blue bottle in the bedroom which you can spray on to the carpet or whatever to stop her doing it. If she goes under the bed and you want her out just show her the bottle of spray and say out and she should come out (if she calls your bluff spray it and she will shoot out!)

Feel free to tell her off if she gets on the tables. Normally saying “Mitsi off” works, but she may argue back so keep telling her until she gets off.

She is a bit of a princess and won't use her litter tray if it is dirty...sorry!"

It is a good job my cat-sitter is a good friend! :D

LOL! I left similar for my mum when I went away :D Is your cat not allowed outside at all?

ETA if not she will need a scratching post :D

No she doesn't go outside, she is a house cat. We live in a 2nd floor flat, hence the sucide attempts with the windows. She likes to sit on the ledge, which I find very unnerving! We have tried taking her outside but she hates it and panics and runs straight into the glass door that lead back into the house or tries to jump back through open windows.

She has a scratch post and gets her claws trimmed on twice a month. Her scratch doubles up as her pole for pole dancing, which she loves!

LOL! Well if it's any consolation, my cat does go outside, but he would rather give himself a manicure on my carpet or door mat! I found that the feliway plug in stops this a bit though, he wanders round in a blissful state when thats plugged in :D

She is very good and uses the scratch post to sharpen her claws and uses the carpet purely as an attention seeking behaviour! Usually at 6 am when she wants feeding.

Ah now my cat lets me lay in until 9.30 :p But he is getting on a bit and I have perfected yelling at him over the years so he knows not to wake me up :D Poor sod :D
