Sad decision taken to sell our much loved mare ( and there was me having dreams of breeding from her at a future date if we were in a position to buy some land). She was bought a couple of years ago, just broken, to event ...but in the interim my teenage daughter has got hooked on show jumping and wants to concentrate on that..so wants a nice compact TB.

So my problem is what to ask for her....she wasn't cheap to buy as she has some good breeding...and my daughter has put in lots of work on her.....but we dont want to put people off by asking too much.

This is the description to date ...suggestions welcome

Talented 16.2 bay mare, ¾ TB
by Accondy ( damsire Abgar)
born 24.4.99
Good paces, started lateral work.
Competed unaffiliated dressage
Athletic scopey jump, now competing BSJA Disc/Newcomers
BSJA winnings act £98, notional £55
Cross Country schooled and eager for more – would make great eventer.
Fit, no vices, kind temperament but needs experienced rider.

My guess price wise would be around £5000. (Sorry if it is totally different to what you were expecting-I'm not very good at these)

What about loaning her out?

hiya, I went on the website..shes gorgeous! And sounds amazing too! I'd say 10,000 + , because shes quite young, but not a baby, experienced, but not been there done that, you say shes kind (thats the main thing!), no vices and ready to go! My friend is looking for a horse like that, I'll tell her about it, although 16.2 might be too big for her, although she is a brilliant rider.

Don't take this the wrong way but its eight and not done much, eventing bods will generally want it to be comp at INT level and have a hatfull of points.I can imagen i cost a bit but realisticly 5k to 8k but it'll have to be very good in all phases.
Plus quite a lot of people don't like mares.

No I accept your point eventing_chick. ..and thanks for advise re pricing.

She was broken late as the local sports horse breeder believes in letting horses joints etc. mature first and my daughter instead of prgressing through dressage, show jumping to x country has got stuck on show jumping. But the mare does really cover the ground well ( that racing horse blood) , has an athletic jump to bound up steps etc., masses of stamina ...and when she did a X country clinic recently with Nick Turner a local eventer he commented on her scope. So the potential is there.

As for the mare bit...she does not kick or bite and we never know when her seasons are . It is sad to write off half of the horse population when looking for a horse.

I would say max 5K , more like 4K based on the info given. At 8 your leaving the bracket where potential means much. The fact she hasn't competed eventing and needs an experienced rider lowers the value as well. sorry if it's not what you want to hear.
