Tentatively thinking about selling my gelding, as I don't really ride him anymore and can see from having a sharer how much fun he is having going out doing stuff again and that he is being looked after just as well (poss even better!) than by me so it's not like I'm the only one who can offer him a good home.

Would offer her first refusal but no idea what sort of ball park I'd be looking at.

This isn't an ad, only trying to work out a price range.

Perfect in every way, lol. He stands tied for hours, travels, loads, good to handle, clip loose in field, teeth without sedation, vets injections etc no problem. Can require tactical catching when the grass comes through but isn't impossible.
Fab under saddle, hunts, sj, dressage, xc, hunter trials, beach rides, fun rides. Always has brakes but is quite forward and wants to get on with his job. Would be most comfortable around 1.10s as his max. Very rarely stops, only does if there is a physical reason (ie he has twinged a muscle, as he has hauled me out of trouble so many times from a rider error perspective!)
Doesn't buck, rear, bolt, bite, any of that

Do you have any good photos stood up and over a fence?
Does he have an affiliated record?
I have loads of photos of him doing all activities and could easily get ones of him stood up. He has never affiliated, just because I'm not interested in doing so, no reason he couldn't though and has the benefit of no points etc st lower levels so someone could go in at whatever level they fancied with him.

I asked so I could assess quality ?? one persons good photo is not another. At 13 and not affiliated to date then your aren’t going to be selling on affiliated potential.

Certainly a desirable type by the sounds of it.

Pre-Covid I’d have said 4-7k depending on quality of horse and training.

With the daft market at the moment I’d be starting at 6K. And if the horse were really good type and presented well in a good sales yard I wouldn’t be surprised at achieving 10k

Happy to post some, but not sure if I'll get pulled up for advertising if I also include pics?

Haha, OK bare with whilst I pull together some photos.

Not so brave - I know :( He is a total legend, go anywhere do anything, somehow catches me when I completely missed him at the odd jump. I've only come off him once in 7 years and it was my own fault, slipping off bareback!

I'm just at a point now where my poor lovely saintly horse just doesn't quite do it for me under saddle. I'm not hugely competitive, so riding him feels abit..pointless? He doesn't have anything left to learn that I'm interested in teaching him (as in he could learn higher level dressage, but I have no interest in doing that with him as his main love is jumping and hunting. So he w/t/c nicely, balanced and in a good outline, he can do lateral movements and changes etc, but no desire to teach him anything more complex). Whereas I have a youngster who is a completely princess and abit of a drama queen who I LOVE riding because she's like a puzzle for me to solve.

With the crazy market, I'd go higher than IHW and start at £12k if he really is the saint you describe and he's never been sick nor sorry. Normally would be around £6k - if you are going to sell and want to maximise, you need to be quick as there will unfortunately be a lot around in December/new Year.

I’ve been vaguely looking although nothing proper yet and prices have shot up since the new lockdown was announced. As in, 50-100% increase on what they’d normally start at. I’d be thinking 8-10k, 10k being if he’s well schooled, pretty and has some sort of comp record even if it’s unaffiliated. That would be directly after lockdown though - otherwise perhaps 5-8k.

He's worth quite a bit right now. But I guess the question is, do you want the right money or do you want him to go to the sharer? If the latter maybe tell her you're thinking of selling him and for her to make you an offer and see where it falls comparatively to the prices you've been quoted here.

You'd have no issues selling a corker like that, but thats not quite the question you're asking I dont feel. :)
