Just returned from another dressage day when my score sheets were littered with 'inattentives'... to be fair today was worse than usual with a small child playing with a pushchair just as we were about to go up the centre line - cue D stopping dead, freaking and tanking off with me towards the collecting ring!! Did manage to get her into the arena and complete the test but the whole time EVERYTHING is more interesting than doing what I want her to do/looking where I want her to look!!

She is only 6 and quite green so I wonder if she will just grow out of it? She just stares at EVERYTHING, locks her neck (and being IDxWB its pretty tricky to move it) and goes around like a giraffe at times.

I have tried shoulder fore past spooky objects, varied warm ups, lateral work, collections extensions and changes of direction in the warm up - all fine then as soon as we get into the arena booooring!! 'i am going to stare at an imaginary object four miles away on the horizon'.

oh and we are only doing prelim so nothing too challenging!

i try to get her out at least once a week to get her used to as much as possible and she is fine inhand and in the warm up... i just wondered on other peoples opinions really - will she grow out of it? Is it just being a big baby? Any tips on getting attention back once it is gone?

if i read another 'inattentive' i am going to go insane... and dont even start me on 'needs to be more forwards' and 'could be rounder' :)

thanks so much!!

Don't you just love people with pushchairs!
I met a pushchair in warm up once and Jack would NOT go near it even though he sees them at home
If i was you i would just get her out and about, even just going to comps to walk round and get her used to working in with all sort going on. :)
