I read or seen on the Television, a competion that you can film at home and then send in to the judges... ie if you cant get to a show.. lack of transport etc.. then you can set up your school/field at home say like a dressage areana and do your test there, and get someone to film it.n and send it off the the judge. You dont need to be dressed in the proper togs etc...

So do you think this is a good or bad idea?

i suppose its great for people who cannt get to a venue through lack of transport or whatever to recieve feedback on how their horse is going etc...
however i cant see how it would be a fair in terms of competition really or how it would work..

I think it is good idea for general feed back but not for competition use, I would be quite mad if I was placed down for someone who just sent a video in and weren't dressed correctly.
Mainly because the horse may act like a complete arse at competitions but be good as gold at home, so technically shoudln't have that placing if you get me?

Plus I also sort of see it as the lazy option for those who can't be bothered getting up extra early, washing, plaiting up, loading, traveling, looking imaculate, etc.

I also saw this, don't remember the website but my impression was that you do it at home, you film yourself and you get feedback/scores. I didn't think it would then be added to any competition/show results!
I think it was set up as a training tool and an opportunity for those who cannot afford to compete etc not as an easy way out of show preparations...
I thought it was a great idea.

Don't get me wrong I think it is a fantastic thing to do for feedback from judges and I would personally do it myself, just wouldn't like it too much if it did count towards competition results that is all.

Yes, I agree, it would be mega unfair if it counted towards 'real life' competition results of any kind (I seem to recall seeing on that website that they were planning to run competitions among those long-distance competitors, which sounds good. You could enter 'online shows' and compete this way).

I think it would be quite good to hold competitions (well classes) like that where people send their entries via video, so that you have video comps and real life ones judged the same way but seperatly.
