My horse has just come down with another mild attack of laminitis and I have been told that brewers yeast and magnesium can be helpful in preventing/treating this disease.

Does anyone have any experience of feeding these as supplements (alongside the usual restricted grazing, high fibre diet)

thanks

I *think* magnesium is helpful by attaching to potassium, which is higher in actively growing grass, and so aid it's removal from the body. Brewers yeast can help restore good gut bacteria by affecting the gut pH. So both can help but won't prevent lami in their own right.

Thats my general understanding but happy to be put right - still learning about the evil green stuff myslef LOL!!

And 'the evil green stuff' is almonst inconsequential if the horse or pony is suffering from Cushings and/or EMS, although might have played a part in the development of the latter.
