another mystery illness.... please not GS :(

Ive got nothing extra to add to this - have only just seen and you have had lots of wonderful advice from everyone.

just wanted to add a huge hug for you and lots of get better vibes really x

Adding yet more vibes and well wishes. We thought our mare had this earlier this year. Luckily she didn't and recovered well but have to say am very impressed at how well you are dealing with it all :)

Will keep an eye on this thread for more positive updates! xx

Feeling better today! Put weigh tape on Mr.V this morning - last time he was 303kg he's now 310kg so... A slight improvement. I have been reading my diary for him and he is definitely happier in himself now even when left alone. So apart from being willing to kill for a lie in/day off... Things are good! Today is day 24 :-) thankyou for all your words of support - it really is comforting! And although he seemingly resembles a skinny racehorse... My confidence in success is growing :)

Brilliant - the photos/diaries really help in keeping an objective view don't they?

The nursing is knackering, I know, but the end result will hopefully be very worth it x

PS - when they do turn the corner, they do seem to put the weight back on quickly - gully went from looking like that photo I posted, to looking like a 'normal' weight horse in around 10 days!

No great changes to report really. Think the weight is slowly creeping back on and he's happy so I'm happy. He very rarely tremors now so he just has his 'greyhound' appearance to get rid of and then I'm sure we will be rid of this nasty disease :( he is now eating 4 meals of alpha oil, baileys cond mix, soya oil, mollichop and sugarbeet - he is also having a bucket of chop/readigrass over night and has more or less gone back to eating the normal amount of hay he should be doing!! Happy Hayley and Happy Mr V :) x

Little update for those interested - this is day 35!! To look at him now he is a different horse to what he was! I cannot access photo bucket so can't upload pics but if anyones interested and they PM me their Email I can send them and they could possibly upload? He is now out the majority of the day - this works for us. He always comes in looking healthier than he does if he's in all day. The muscle tremors have stopped completely and he's eating the amount of hay he used to consume :-) he's currently on Alfa oil, baileys cond mix, sugar beet and cherry conditioning chaff, pink powder and soya oil - iv dropped the electrolytes because he's drinking enough now. He is still slightly tucked up but nothing compared to what he was - will get the tape on him to see what he is now! Bearing in mind the lowest he got was 303kg :( xx

So pleased he's on the mend and that you're feeling happier because he is :)

That is great news, so pleased to hear he is doing well, long may it continue

Keep going MrV - this all sounds good. Hopefully another success story. My vets had never seen one recover before they saw Gully - horrid disease :(

Lots of continue getting well vibes :)
