Poor Reggie. But he's young enough and sounds like a useful horse so hopefully someone will give him a loving home.

They should be ashamed having a horse who looks like that though.

Ohh dig away! I mean I’m always finding the cuties but then have to take into account transport and gelding and so on so probably not really serious. I do think this one has just the sweetest little face though
if i could id love to snag him, he is lovely 😍

Oh he looks like baby cob.

I'll be divorced if another turns up accidentally

A general question.
How well do very poor horses do after rescue? What is the risk of permanent damage?
I have a little rescue, I didn’t personally rescue him but had him via the Blue Cross. As I understand he was part of a big RSPCA case many many years ago, he’s now 30 and was in a nice home before me, I’ve had him 8 years I think. Health wise he’s been fine. Always has good fec and equisal results.
I don’t think he’ll ever even now be truly happy about being handled though, he doesn’t trust people even though he seems to want to.
I can do what ever I want to him carefully but his little eyes are always on stalks and his bum is solid, he’s never really relaxed.
That’s been our biggest hurdle. He’s a huge amount better than he was but I suppose mentally things are harder to get over perhaps .

Are we looking at the same ad? Bay standardbred type? Because if we are I'm struggling to see the issue. He looks lean and fit, which he will be if he's driving long distances. I'd prefer a bit more weight on, but if that pic was coming out of winter and after working, then I wouldn't be unduly concerned. I cant imagine any scenario where I would post an ad like that saying the owners should be ashamed of themselves.

Agreed, he's lean and muscled, could maybe do with a bit less rib showing but certainly not one to be ashamed of, doesnt look any worse than the horses you see walking round a pre parade racecourse ring

I thought the same, I like him a lot except that his legs seem very upright, even for a standardbred. If I had a field and £1500 spare* though, I'd take a punt on him!

*which I do not

This one? I assume we are looking at the same one.

I thought it looked like you could see the top of his ribs, and his neck looks like there's nothing on the top too. I'll admit I see very few fit horses and even fewer drivers who probably muscle up differently.
