Another opinions on this horse post! Sorry :)

I'm no good at conformation although he looks very upright in his front legs, has rather prominent withers and I would wonder whether he always stands with his hinds underneath him so much. But these words scream out at me in the ad:

"Exciting project for experienced person."

" Not a novice ride."

I would assume he was pretty sharp. How experienced are you?

Also, this website carries the same phone number as the ad:

http://www.allunsutherland.co.uk/#/contact/4539626240

The ad says it is a private sale, but the website looks like a dealer or certainly a pro.

Funny, he has the same head as one of mine, andalusian cross, he was both intelligent and difficult!
I would be very wary, if you don't have enough background to suss out conformation, I feel that you probably don't have enough experience for him.
And yes, its a terrible photo, it looks to me as though he has not been ridden much, possibly due to his behaviour.

I have plenty of experience dealing with difficult horses, have backed 2 of my own as well as dealing with many problem horses I no the obvious points in bad conformation but would like others opinions.
He hasn't been ridden in 6 months, Hence why he is a project

He looks like a nicely put together horse but as already said if the add screams quirks I would be weary of him as they aren't giving anything away about him, his cheap and young tells me there are big issues. If you are experienced with difficult potentially dangerous horses then go take a look otherwise I'd look for something else.

He looks lovely, but if you can see his faults and work through his problems then, he is as much risk as any other horse for sale is.

Go see him and see what you feel them, gut instinct and all, dont forget to vet check, low ££ rings alarm bells, so worth it.

Ok, I just wanted to check as you hadn't said that in your OP. Although in your previous thread you said you sold your mare as you didn't have time to do work, so would this chap be any less time consuming?

I have a PRExTB and can say they are very sharp horses but great fun, but the way the advert is worded makes me think he is extremely sharp, but if you feel confident with that then it's probably best to judge him in person.

As to his conformation he looks short in the back and his front legs look shorter than his back. I bet he may be quite on the forehand and they have stood him that way so that it looks less obvious. But I do like his face :)

He looks nice enough, but obviously needs lots of work. He doesn't look full Andalusian to me, also looks like he has had an accident on rear thigh - you can tell by the way the hair has grown back. Ask about it if you take it further, I think he is worth a visit. Good Luck.

I don't agree with this poster, I would be running like hell, but if you tell the vendor you will have a full 5 stage vetting, then he may suddenly "be sold".

Your vet will tell you what he thinks of conformation, he takes a blood test, so that drugs can be detected, it is standard procedure with a 5 stage vetting.

If you must go, then take your instructor with you .......... horses are expensive and time consuming and "they are not just for Christmas"
Lots of people think they can ride difficult horses: I would say that I only know about half a dozen people who are what I would call good riders [excluding professionals], and NONE of them would be interested in a project horse like this.

I think you may have read my post wrong, I was advising that a full vetting should be carried out due to the price, and will be worth the ££, if the vendor turns down the vetting then walk away,

There is something wrong with his hind legs. He is slightly sickle hocked and very weak behind even considering his lack of fitness.

Thanks Wagtail, I dont often look at horses, would you mind pming me what to look for with sickle hocks, I know you had a post recently regarding this

Crikey, back end looks awful :frown3: Is that line below his stifle what someone else mentioned re healed injury? I think I'd be inclined to look elsewhere for something that doesn't clang big bells!

Personally I really dont like him. He seems very short on the front, on the forehand very much. His hind legs just look odd to me and I'm somewhat suspicious of the wording of the ad...sorry :(

Sorry the bit i disagreed with was going to see the horse!, I can't seem to do multi quotes on here

That is fair enough, I say go to see the horse, as I personally find it hard to 'judge' a horse by a photo, even a video, Id rather go and see the horse in action, if seller has nothing to hide then they will be happy to show horse in every aspect asked for, good luck OP in your horse search.

He's not standing well .
That may be a terrible picture but if that his usual stance it's not good .
The add screams trouble to me .
Not be ridden for six months why ?
If your interested OP proceed with extreme caution and have a vet all over the horse like a rash.

May just be a terrible photo but he looks sickle and cow hocked to me judging by the way his hooves are turned out. That in turn makes his whole hind quarters look odd.
He appears to have a large healed wound (possibly sutured) but that may just have been superficial.
His withers are high and also it looks as though he has had a poorly fitted saddle as there seems to be wastage below the withers (again may just be the photo) but may explain why he is not a novice ride.
If I had £1000 burning a hole in my pocket I would still be giving him a miss.

Agree his conformation doesn't look great.

On another note I read that add as ensure you are member of bupa to be sure your hospital stay is atleast slightly comfortable and invest in a very large tub of super glue.
