After yesterdays post I have ordered some, should arrive on Monday just in time for the mud to freeze over!! Never used it before so do I need to wash it off every day and reapply, keep re applying daily or wait for it to stop working, then wash, clean and reapply?

Don't keep washing off - leave to build up for best results. Mud will slip off as it dries. However, do start first application on a horse with mud groomed off.

My hairies have legs done every 7 - 14 days depending on conditions but those less blessed with hair will need more frequent applications, every other day or so based on the arab on the yard that used it for MF prevention.

When you finally need to wash out, hot water and good old green fairy is the business.

If you want a very long PM about the dark art of pig oil and sulphur, PM me and I will send it to you.

My horse is a TB with hunter clip. I have a sponge and old chinese take away tub with oil in it. I dip the sponge then wring it out and just wipe it over my horse. On his body I then take a body brush and just brush him over on his clipped bits just to make it even. On his legs I just sponge it on a bit thicker and leave it. I also sponge it through the bottom of his tail but not the top as I still need to pull it!
www.horsehero.com has more on it if you want to see a dressage rider using it.

Yes its not that greasy. Mine never leaves the yard without boots of some kind so there are no issues with that.
