My newest liverys owners finally got married a week ago after 10 years of living together. I didnt want to rush out and buy something banal so I asked 'PF' if she would 'do' me a portrait of their horse Ali. They havent seen it yet as they left for a months honeymoon in Alaska

I think if you cick PF's name there is a link to her website, she does commissions and isn't super expensive! If I could get my horse to stand still for a picture I would be getting one done but I have no luck with the camera

. Was that really necessary? No the horse isnt 'pretty' but the horse was originally owned and ridden by Nelson Passoa so I doubt if his looks were of much importance. 'Handsome is what Handsome does. Thankyou for your input all the same. Mairi.

Probably not, then again are many response necessary? Many people just respond to give opinions, mine is that the horse doesn't have the prettiest head.

Exactly what I said, it's often the ugly ones that have the most talent!
 
I love PF's work. Her drawing of Phe as a yearling takes pride of place in my living room. She's a brilliant artist.

I think the horse looks very wise and kind and not 'ugly ass' at all.
 
Some of the equine artists on here really do make me feel depressed xD I don't think my art will ever quite compare :/ Would be nice if I could get good enough to pay for my own new riding boots some day!

WTF who gives you the right to comment on somebody elses horse....that is a really nasty uncalled for comment you obviously have a great taste in horses (Not) PF tis a lovely portrait and shows a lovely noble head
 
I bet if Mairi put up a photo of him we'd all see what a super likeness PF has drawn, and that's what matters, that she has captured the horse AS HE IS

If someone thought enough of me to go to the trouble of commissioning a portrait of my favourite horse I'd be thrilled, and bugger anyone who didn't like it or didn't have the simple good manners to pass over the fact that they don't like the horse.

One of these days I'll get round to asking PF to do a picture for me, I just can't decide which of my Ugly Ass nags I want to look at on the wall every day , probably an arab.

this horse may not be the prettiest i have seen,but the portrait is outstanding! he has a lovely lovely eye and it looks like he's almost reminising of times past with that gleam in his eye

I bet she will apreciate and treasure this pressie the most. Good thinking M
 
FWIW I think the horse is beautiful! He looks very noble as others have said...the 'ugly' comment was a bit uncalled for but I suppose people will always have their opinions!
PF has also done a gorgeous portrait for me of my lovely boy & my little girl (choccie lab!) and it is truly amazing - she's managed to capture my horses personality perfectly and the picture of my lab looks like it could be a photo! She's very very talented and IMO a really nice person too from the emails we exchanged about the portrait!!!!!!

Just yesterday in the stands at a show I told a parent their little boy was ugly, noisy and smelled. And if he didn't shut up that instant, I'd push him off the stands.
Actually, I didn't. Just because one has the RIGHT to speak their mind, doesn't mean it's always the correct or wise thing to do
