Little Orange mare had second vaccination- vet tried to do her in a pen attatched to the field- but hit blood so tried again- this wound her up so took her to the stable- he tried twice more- still hit blood- Final go and he got it into the muscle- mare was shaking by this point having been jabbed with some force 4 times- is this normal to have to take so many attempts? I hope this wont make her worse for her next one....

Pretty unlucky to hit a blood vessel 4 times! Usually you can re-direct the needle without taking in out. But not being there i can't really say for sure!

When we inject i/m we tend to just grab a handful of skin on the neck and inject in the right place behind it. In the hind quarters we thump the area two times then go in on the third. But some horses who have had this done a few times tend to know what your up too!

Hope your mare has a better experiance next time
