Another potential horse, your views please

No. The horse is five and has already been extensively jumped and hunted for two seasons. Totally puts me off.

I think she is lovely. Most Irish horses are well hunted at 3 so IMO not worth not buying them for. Get a good vetting done though! The hunting won't have done her any more harm than a warmblood being schooled for hours in circles in a school at the same age.

She looks like she's worth viewing. :)

You should bare in mind that she's only 5 and has already hunted two seasons. I think that she might still be quite green schooling wise (just an impression from the video, so I could be wrong).

Plus pretty much every single cob that I've ever met could have been a 'sports cob' if it was fit enough and had the correct training, so don't pay over the odds because she's a 'rare sports cob'. ;)

ETA.

This is exactly why I only buy unbacked youngsters and then I can bring them on slowly. I do understand that the OP might not be in a position to do this though.

I like very much. Looks a very uncomplicated ride. Attractively marked, and seems to have a nice attitude.

Please be careful as S4sugar says its a dealer yet they are making out its a private sale. They are trying to get round the Sale of Goods Act if anything goes wrong with the horse. If you google the phone number there are lots of horses for sale under that number.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I really like her. I hope she is nice in the flesh. I'd go expecting her to be a bit rough round the edges (like green in the school, won't pick up feet and not many manners etc) but I really like her in that video and think she could be a cracker.

Is the dealer trying to get around the sale of goods act or just avoiding trade fees on the website?

Just get her vetted by your own vet and bloods taken if you want to buy her op.

Hunted for 2 seasons can mean in the 1st year it was just brought out once and in the second year 3 or 4 times, think its worth a look.

Just be cautious and try to find out more. Maybe ask locally, ie tack/feed shops if they know the lady. Expect the mare to be very green and probably quite weak physically and mentally.
If you really like her get her 5 stage vetted and have bloods taken and ask for a month's warranty re. Vices, temperament etc.

If it is a dealer, perhaps they are selling or showing on behalf of the owner if she's pregnant. Whether its a dealer or private just ensure you are thorough when you go to view and ensure you get the horse vetted before buying it. Looks like it could be a fun wee horse, but I wouldn't be surprised if its green in the school but could have potential.

Good luck

I'm not against the mare per se,
I'm not against purchasing from a dealer,

I am however against purchasing from people who are dishonest. Google the phone number, it couldn't be clearer that this person is dealing, if if they have the gall to tell you over the phone that they are not then I'd run a mile

If you are a dealer who makes money out of buying and selling horses then you cannot exempt yourself from the sale of goods act just because you write 'private sale' on an advert - that would be a ridiculous loophole. It is more likely that she is trying to avoid higher listing fees or doesn't want potential buyers to be put off by the fact she is a dealer. Then again, she could be telling the truth and is selling a lot of horses that were her's because she is pregnant. Go have a look and see.

I asked her on the phone if she was a dealer as I was suspicious!
She said no! Told me she's just found out she's preggers!
Oh, don't know what to do now!

How odd, number is all over the internet and links to a sports horse dealer.

On that basis - I'd run a mile.

Go and look but be on your guard for things like can they catch her, or is she shut in a stable with no water when you get there. I'd normally say run a mile tbh but I like her so would go and look.

I like the way all his horses for sale are described as 'rare' - either their colour or their made up 'type'.

The mare however looks lovely so dont be put off too much, go and see her for yourself and have her vetted if you are interested in her.

Ok, in a quandary now! And very gutted, that I've been lied to more than anything else!
Going to email her!
Thanks all, don't know what I'd do without you all.
By the way, if anyone knows of anything that could suit, please pm me.
Thanks again Kate
