but could be that I'm jealous cos I can't ride the littleun's cos I'd squash 'em

....although I do when this is the desired effect!

I love the little uns, but can't ride them

so I have a 16.1hh and my little girl has a 11.2hh and maybe soon a 12.3hh yipee!!!

I am a connemara pony gal at heart but have a 16hh warmblood who I love to pieces.... I don't mind little uns or big uns, I'm easy

But.... I am not so keen on cobs

I love Bodey and the lovely lemon and white cob whose owners name evades me but they normally just don't 'do it' for me!

I love my biggies normally16.2 plus at least but I like the chunky side of tall so shire x tbs,cob x tbs etc so how I ended up with a spindly ex racer I will never know

16.2 IDx
14 Fell

I am going to see my perfect horse looks wise this weekend - 16hh hairy Shire x.

Best horse I have ridden was 17.3. Felt as safe as houses on him, despite him being a bit of a tw*t. Like em big but do look a bit daft sometimes, being a 5.2 short arse!

Hmm ... both of mine have been around the 15-15.2hh mark, so I suppose littluns. But they were a CobX and a TBX, so quite different in build! I like solid shoulders and a solid (pref. quite long) neck ... I like feeling like there's actually something under me!

I can't get on anything taller than 14h from the ground so I prefer little ones for convenience. Also because I suffer from vertigo, and, it isn't as far to fall (I am serious!) I prefer lighter built horses than cobs, find them more comfortable to sit on.

Saying that I have a 15.2 built like the side of a house, she'd pull a plough all day, an arab built like a twig insect, a few in between and a couple of small ones too. If I like the horse itself as a 'person' then I'm not fussed what shape or colour it comes in. If I don't click with a horse, it could be a World Champion for all I care, it would still be on the sales lists.

To ride I prefer bigguns and love Tb's, really find it difficult to get my little legs round a cob, I just bounce on top rather then have any control.

But I love littlies and i mean littlies so cant ride them have 8 shetties ranging from 29" to 36".

I have always been a bigger the better fan. Generally most of my previous rides have been 17hh + with a fair amount of bone.
However I have just bought a lovely little (well to me anyway) 16.1hh WB mare, She is only 5 so has quite abit of filling out to do but I adore her and her size seems just perfect. Big enough to carry me but small enough to have soooo much fun on!!!

iv had a right variety over the years, from a 15.1hh TB to a 17.3hh Warmblood, but my current boy is perfect-a good 16.1/16.2hh but light framed and quick on his feet.

iv finally come to realise that the sort of horse i liked when showjumped (hot, quick, buzzy), is the sort i like for dressage too, cant be doing with huge great dinosaur types. no offence to people who like the big warmbloods, it would be boring if we all liked the same thing!

I really don't tend to get on with ponies at all. I prefer bigger horses (I used to ride an 18.2hh at college, he was fab! Certainly made jumping scary 3' fences much easier as he just stepped over them...

) but the most fun I have had on horseback has to be with two smaller horses. One was my friend's ~15hh coloured cob (the one in my sig) - she was/is so cheeky, so fun, so up for it... hacking was never so much fun before I sat on her! The other is fellow HHOer Boss's Moon - she's like a finer, more athletic version of the coloured... just ace fun

So I suppose "chunkiness" doesn't really bother me, either way - you couldn't get more different than Kit and Moon, IMO.
I wouldn't ideally like to own anything under 15.3hh, but then my ideal horse is a PRE and if it meant I could afford one, I'd happily go down to about 15hh. It's their brains that I love, not their size

I have ridden a fair few larger horses at work recently, 16.2hh+, but I think I prefer the in-betweenies. About 16hh suits me perfectly.
The reason I don't get on with ponies isn't because of their size, but because of their pony-like temperaments - cheeky little s***s
