How on earth can you be certain you are buying ragwort free hay? I have been at this yard for the second year now (Wasn't there when they cut the hay last year, but did use it). I was horrified to see ragwort in the hayfields before they cut it this year and even though YO was offered help in pulling it before cutting, he said don't worry, we take it out, but we saw it there on the cut hay before bailing and im sure he has NOT picked it out. This now leaves us in an awkward position of buying hay elsewhere, but asking him to store it for us and how can we be sure that anywhere else we buy it from is not doing what our YO is doing?

I suppose you cant be certain, unless you trust the person you are buying from.

I know my YO would not have ragwort in our hay, but then I am lucky enough to see it all growing

I would refuse to buy his hay.... the more people that do this the better, he may learn a lesson from it.

Ask some of your friends if their hay is free from ragwort..... and then get some from their supplier.
