Has anyone experienced a dog having an allergic reaction to a raw diet?
Mine have been fed raw (mostly Landywoods and chicken wings) for over a year now and have been doing very well. I feed mostly their lamb mix with occasional beef/kidney.
Our oldest dog (a GWP) started with a problem with her ears which we put down to catching ear mites from the new puppy. We are still struggling with her ears, seem to get on top of them and then they go off again. Then she started rubbing her nose and has taken all the hair off it. The vet thought she may have transferred the infection (swabs from her ears showed a strep infection which vet thinks was secondary to initial problem)and she is on oral antibiotic for that. Also she has got a bald patch on her back and I keep finding fatty lipomas (not sure if connected). Vet thinks now it could be an allergy and she thinks most likely to beef but she really hasn't had that much beef. She suggested keeping her off all red meat for at least 4 weeks and feeding only chicken or rabbit.
Sorry for the long winded explanation but do any of you raw food peeps think she could have developed an allergy to lamb after over a year?
Thanks for reading.
