another really sad advert :(

The advert that has been removed also said that the horse had ripped a large amount of hoof away and that although they had managed to get a shoe on it was very footsore. It gave the impression horse would need to be left for foot to grow before it would in any way be usable so possibly another reason for huge price drop.

If a passport is issued to a horse over 6 months old/re-issued then it is automatically issued as not for human consumption. This is to prevent owners whose horses have had drugs that would render them ineligible for consumption replacing the old passport with a "clean" one.

This dealer must be loving all this free advertising she is getting here!

Why is everyone so obsessed with this horse? Seems to me that you all think it's a lie about the meat man, just to get a buyer and people feeling sorry for the horse, which has worked!

I also don't think it is that unusual to have a horse for sale for a long time. The market is rubbish therefore they aren't selling.

And, more importantly, if horse is now footsore, is it getting bute? No selling to the meat man then!

Sorry, but thousands go to the meat man each year, better than fate of the horses Mrs B was trying to highlight.l

I don't see anything worse in sending a horse for meat than sending a cow or pig. Personally, I wouldn't do either (I don't eat meat). Pigs are far more intelligent than horses, yet hundreds of thousands go for meat every year and are packed tight into huge lorries. Much worse than what happens to a horse being transported for meat in this country. Also, most horses have had a longer more pleasant life before they go for slaughter. Yes the ad sounds callous, but it really is just telling it as it is.

Yes this is true, but I really don't think there was any need for this to be written in an advert. There were absolutely no positive things written about the horse, just that it is lame and going to the meat man because they need to repair their car.

Yes pigs are intelligent, but this horse is someones pet. I wouldn't dream of sending my cats off to be slaughtered because I couldn't afford my phone bill.

Horse has been advertised since May. Needn't mean anything untoward, I know a couple of decent horses for sale that have had zero interest. Market is sluggish right now for horses, horseboxes and houses etc.
