...despite the high cost per bale.

Mine only come in for a couple of hours each day in the summer, so their beds can get quite old. I keep them clean obviously, but previous bedding - chopped rape/ straw, (Equinola, Unibed etc) straw pellets etc have always become intolerably dusty and 'tired' after a month or so, and despite watering them, I've ended up having to freshen them up at least a couple of times through the summer.

This year I have one on Aubiose, and his bed looks as good as ever, with no maintenance beyond standard skipping out and wet patches as necessary.

Definitley saving on new bedding and time over over the summer for the Aubiose bed :)

If I can find somewhere rat proof to store a pallet, I'm going to move both on to it this winter.

I always want to try it but no where near seems to stock any. I do also have amazing straw right now so it would be silly but am definitely going to give it a go in winter when i invairably get the odd bad batch of straw.
How much per bale are we talking  about £13?

I used to deep litter with it. One year the stable flooded to six inches, there was no way I was throwing away a whole new bed, so I piled it up in the middle of the stable to drain off. After about a day I relayed it threw out any that was still sodden, put that on the garden, and topped it up with dry. It seems to breath so the rest dried out completely.
I used to keep mine in the back garden so what was taken out of the stable was put in compost bins, left for three months and but on my borders of heavy clay soil, never dug in. The worms just used to break it down, and it would disappear very quickly.
So it may be expensive to buy but it save a lot of time and money on disposal.

It is a lot of money for a bale of bedding isn't it, However last winter when I had one in with an allergy I was paying £11.50 for a bale of shavings which im sure is way less economical in the long run.
