... loving the pictures of his horses being horses this morning- Uti in a field and Blueberry going hacking.

He actually has one of his high level competition horses which lives out.

Blueberry has had 6 months off as a holiday after his olympic win and coming back to work now...

What a lovely role model :)

I have so much respect for the way he trains and brings on young horses (and riders). Wish I had one billionth of his natural feel when sitting on a horse.

I love Carl and his ethics, he's so relaxed with his horses and always does best by them. No wonder they perform so well for him and his riders!

He is a real inspiration, and if you ever get to one of his yard visits which include a morning on how he trains do go, worth every penny! He really does give you a great time and treats you all like old friends as well as imparting really fabulous training methods and ethics.

They are lovely pics, and its nice to see them out and about BUT I don't know where the idea that top level comp horses never go out has come from. I have worked for two international riders in this country (one dressage, one eventer(, and 4 national team riders (eventing and dressage) in Germany and Switzerland - and every horse on every yard had daily turnout, and was hacked out regularly - often for hours and hours.
