Seen in a mag today the following ad:

14.2hh 12yo gelding

Can be lightly hacked due to back trouble. With careful management he could jump again or be a loveable companion.

This lovely boy is only being rehomed due to the owner wanting to compete.

Perfect to hack.....but blind in one eye, but don't let this bother you.

He's a real character and loved by all, this is a really sad sale of a good friend. £500

So here's a pony that's got a bad back. He can be lightly hacked.....what's that then? Down to the end of the drive and back before he bucks you off?

The owner wants to jump but the pony isn't capable of it due to his bad back. The owner's not prepared to put the 'careful management' into it in the hope it will jump again - or perhaps they have and the pony still can't?

Not only that, he's blind in one eye.

He's a much loved friend but they still want £500??

So the poor thing has ended up blind, bad back etc while in their ownership and they want to sell it on. It would be better off in a retirement home or rescue cente or if in any pain when just in field then as missfroufrou says PTS.

I think you're assuming a bit here. She might be a dressager, so nothing to do with wanting to jump. The price is reasonable. It's not ancient. I have a pony with one eye and don't see her as any different to any other horse. I can't beleive people are suggesting pts with just a bad back. Unbeleivable. There may be reasons she can't 'fix' the pony's back, perhaps it just needs rest which she doesn't have time for.

I think people are just suggesting that to pts would be better than the poor pony being passed from pillar to post? Hope it finds a nice home, such a shame.
