Hi Folks.
I posted last month with regards to my gelding and his riggy behaviour. He's now 5, was cut at 3 at a (i know realise dodgy dealer who i bought him from afrter he was cut) and he did cover as a 2 and 3 year old - there are some foals out of him doing the rounds i have seen them
So last month he was out with my mare (they've only been out together since January) and the YO had to seperate them as they were 'doing the deed'. They've been split up now and he is out with another gelding, however my mare is back in season, there's a field between them and he is frantic to get to her to the point that he looks like he is going to go over the fence. YO brought him in yesterday as she was worried he was going to hurt himself which i totally agree with, however it's a blooming shame that he got himself into such a state and i don't want him to go through this every few weeks for the next few months as it's not fair on him. As a 3 and 4 year old he was in a field next to mares and when i thought about it i remembered that the yard moved him field at this time of year as he was running up and down the fence. I spoke ot the vet last month and he said to wait and see how we got on, whether the behavior continued which it has. He suggested doing a blood test to check if he is a rig. I would like to know as I'm worried that i could take him to a show and he tried to jump on something! He's only ever been to a couple of shows before and i would always keep him away from other horses anyway...but you never know.
At any other time he is a lovely wee horse, can be a bit cheeky and determined to get his way but they all do that!
Anyway the point of this post was to find out whether anyone can suggest anything to help. I was looking at a calmer called Rigcalm by Global Herbs - has anyone tried it?
Whether he is a rig or not he is still exhibiting this behaviour, if he's not a rig would the Rigcalm make a difference?
On another note he has a sarcoid next to his sheth which has been treated with two doses of exxtera cream, it is a bit smaller but now red, sore and weeping. I've asked the vet just to freeze it off which he is reluctent to do he just wants to keep trying the cream. Can anyone tell me if they have any experience of both this cream and freezing sarcoids?
Thank you for reading this story!!
