F wears these turnouts without problem but the 6’3” are a bit long. I put a cotton sheet with belly under all his rugs.
The 2 rugs are connected by the D rings at the fillet string and a loop on the front of the sheet for the Rhino clips to go through.

6’3” Rhino Plus turnout light with neck ( V fastening)
6’3” Rhino Wug turnout medium ( V fastening ) with Rhino Plus neck fitted on it

He has made his medium very smelly. In order to wash it I bought a second hand Rhino Plus medium 6’. Thinking it would be a better length. This had buckle fastenings which I changed to V fastenings.
When laid together the rugs are almost identical even allowing for the supposed 3” difference. I matched the position for the fastening from the other Plus rug.
All 3 rugs have the same navy blue lining.

The ‘new’ rug slips sideways over F’s bum.

His Shires sweet itch 6’3” doesn’t slip but it hung over his bum so much I took huge tucks in the neck and hip area.

I know he’s a little arthritic but physio said nothing to worry about.

Any ideas on how to correct it?
Thanks

Am I reading it right in the fact it’s only the 6’ one that’s slipping? Is it any less deep than the 6’3? The only ones I’ve had that slipped and didn’t “right” themselves have all been slightly too small / not deep enough. Sorry, not particularly helpful :(

I’m really asking if anyone else had a horse that only one rug slipped while others that were similar or the same stayed in place
thanks
Yes. My wonky mare is properly wonky after her pelvic injury - her right hip is 3" lower than her left hip. She's mostly in Rambo rugs.

One particular 100g turnout with surefit neck and leg arches slips less than her other seemingly identical rugs. Her Rambo Summer series rug sadly now slips so much that she can no longer wear it, but her Rambo fly buster rug doesn't slip at all 🤷‍♀️🤪🤣.

Something that an equine physio/chiropractor once said to me sticks in my mind; and what she said was that if your horse's rug slips consistently in one direction than that may be an indication that the horse/pony needs treatment - as it may indicate the way that it is moving is causing the issue.

Just sharing this as thought it might be of help?

The physio said F is a little arthritic but nothing to worry about or even to do anything about. He is 18 after all and I have very little idea of his life before 2020.
I am puzzled as to why just one rug slips.
Yes it is 3” smaller than his others but as a round 14.2” Connemara measuring 5’9” ( which doesn’t do up! I’ve tried one ) it does seem odd.

My horses rugs all slip to one side on both horses, so don't think it can be the horse. I have one very old rug which doesn't slip on either of them. It is lighter than the other rugs, whether that makes a difference. I'm going to thoroughly measure this rug carefully before I buy new ones. I'm told it's the actual make of the rug but I have different makes!! So annoying!!

Yes this was Bailey, all her rugs slipped the one way. It was the way she moved and although was seen regularly by the physio this never altered her way of going when she was rugged.
She also had a strange action behind when ridden.

I have put all 3 rugs together to compare them.
There is minimal difference in length. The slipping one is shorter but not by 3”.

The slipping rug doesn’t have a loop under the tail flap, the others have a loop.
The slipping rug is shaped along the bottom edge ONLY for the front cross over surcingle.
The others are shaped for both surcingles.

Would so minor a difference make just that one rug slip?
If F was uneven in his gait surely all rugs would slip?
As I’ve said before the physio says he’s good for his age.

I am still puzzled

All makes fit differently when people coming looking for rugs they usually want specific makes as some are often too wide/narrow round the chest.

The rug that doesn't slip is 6ft my horses have always ha E had 6'6 although one horse with lo ger back had 6'9. I am shocked that it is the smallest rug which fits the best! No chest rubs on all of the horses and no slipping! It's also a lighter rug, could that be why?
