My boy has really high withers and wide shoulder, when I bought him 5 years ago I had a made to measure saddle for him but now he has changed so much it doesn't fit so I am currently using a Thorowgood which is still not perfect.

My question is can anyone reccommend a saddle that would fit my very awkward shaped horse ??

A wow saddle would be able to fit him. I'm delighted with mine, big lad has a high wither and big shoulder, but the wow doesn't budge on him

Some of the Ideal's are good for high withers, but not adjustable.

My lad has a high wither but we have foung that a Bates fits him well. You also have the facility to change the gullet as he changes shape.....worth a look at

could your saddler not put a new tree in your custom made saddle? I had it done in my previous horse's saddle and it only cost about £250.

My gelding has high narrow withers but very broad, wide shoulders. i ahve had 6 saddles in the last year, all of which have been too tight over his shoulders or too low on his withers...

I now have a Saddle Company Verona GP which fits perfectly. Its soft and flexible over the shoulders to allow him to move, yet has a narrow gulley to fit his withers. The difference is amazing. The saddles are completely adjustable so can change width with your horse.

My friend had the same prob with her TBxWB mare and has bought a SC saddle too - again its a perfect fit.

I got mine second hand for £200-£250 and fitting was £30.
