Another sheath question

My tb cross was cut late and is very coltish in his attitude (he is 4)

The trouble I am having is his sheath contantly leaks stinking black goo. Its all down his legs etc, like tar.

What do I do?

If it's that bad I'd call a vet out to sedate him so it can be cleaned properly.
I had to have mine done the other day, just a word of warning it cost £123.98

keep some oil (baby or vegetable at your discretion) and give it a squirt every time it drops down

I have, when I first got him - it keeps happening though? Its like his 'natural cleaning' doesnt work?

I had a horse that was the same - the only way we found to get rid of it was a glove, a handfull of sudocreme and a gentle touch!!!! My gelding loved it though - dirty git.

My vet recommended this years ago and it really does work.......maybe a stiff brandy before hand aswell.

Your horse will be eternally grateful, and may look at you in a different light afterwards. hahahaha

I have a pony that is the same.
I just pull off any ginky bits and wash it off his legs as and when

Bucket of warm water, a clean sponge and gently get cleaning into every crevice- Buck has the same problem and it stinks so he gets cleaned about every 10 days

Baby oil and a rubber glove. My horse loves it and cocks his leg up when he needs cleaned! He makes funny faces too.

try cleaning just with warm water and baby oil if he will not let you you may have to get him sedated then do it!
