I'm hoping to attempt showing for the first time with Flash next weekend and have a few quick questions if anyone can help...I'm planning on doing coloured classes and possibly a novice/young horse class type thing.

Gloves- is it correct to wear brown gloves with hacking jacket?

Boots- I'm 21, so I assume long boots are what I'm supposed to wear, I have issues with these, my legs are too short and fat, and can't afford specially made ones yet. Would leather gaiters be OK??

Shirt- what colour? I think I heard that I'm not supposed to wear white?

Tie- again, colour? Just something plain and complementary? Maybe red, yellow, navy??

Bridle- Flash goes nicely in either a double or a snaffle. Would it be OK to use a double in a 5yo? What about for novice/ young horse classes?

Thanks in advance! I haven't done showing since first ridden many many years ago, and am a little clueless!

Gloves-thats fine

Boots-gaiters will do the trick

Shirt and tie- best to get something that goes, pale yellow or blue works quite well.

Bridle- For novice classes only have a snaffle

Hope this helps!

Yes, long boots or boots and matching leather gaiters would be best.

Good luck

***Great! Anywhere local? Hope you enjoy your day.***

***I normally where a hacking jacket when competing Mickey in coloured classes. I use tan or darker brown gloves.***

***You would look a lot smarter in normal long boots I should think, but if local you can get away with your gaiters - As long as gaiters and jodh boots are the same colour...***

Shirt- what colour? I think I heard that I'm not supposed to wear white?
***I always wear white although you could get something else if it teams up better with your tie...***

Tie- again, colour? Just something plain and complementary? Maybe red, yellow, navy??
***Do you know I always used to wear yellow with black polka dots but since have started to think red might be a good idea. Red signifies 1st place after all. Maybe it could influence the judge without them realising it!!

***I would have thought the double would be fine for both.***

I'm attempting the coloured class at Quex park horse show, hopefully he'll get a better response than last year, apparently the judge told the girl riding him that he was too fine for coloured classes

If his recent behaviour is anything to go by we may need more than a bit of luck haha!

Oh how exciting! Not sure but I might pop along one of the days, some of our liveries are jumping etc there. Mickey is still in isolation after his bug.

would be nice to meet you, I think we're going both days so we can get some showing and jumping done

May as well make the most of a local show! You'd spot Flash, he stands out a mile with his daft colour!

I think I will go on Sunday. Someone else I know is doing the SH class that day......Have you got a complete pic of Flash I can see so that I can look out for you?!!
