Not sure today was meant to happen, I havent been able to get a bit into Tinks mouth since Aston, so lots of work in the hackamore.
Then last night she got cast, and then tried to make me think she had colic!!!!!!!
Anyway, after a quiet night off we set.
Finally put a bit in her mouth and wasnt really sure what I was going to get, she was really good, reasonably light in the hand and moving forwards. Just as I went to do my test the heavens opened, and I mean cats and dogs. Now I wear glasses when I ride, and could see s@d all!!! Considering it was a good test, the only error was the halt before the rein back, Tink had no intentions on standing still in that weather. And her big ears are no benefit in that weather either as I had to try and keep her head straight. Anyway, finished on 32!
On to the showjumping, had caused enough trouble, and I was in the hackamore, the 1st time in the ring for 2 years, last time she tried to remove me and I have only just plucked up the courage to try again. A incredibly short warm up, 2 cross, 2 upright and 1 cross spread. In we went. She jumped really well, no fighting, more level into her fences. She just rolled the upright coming out of the last double. So finished on 4!
Onto XC and a bit back in! I have to say I didnt think we were going to get to the start box, we had a rather scary moment when she whipped round and said no. Anyway, a few words later and into the start box, 5,4,3,2, and rear up and go!!! I really attacked the 1st few as had seen a few nap!!! Popped down the step and 4 to see a man behind the palisade at b!!! Went to the side of him and kicked on, clear the table, turned back to the corner at 6, a few had had problems here and I set her up as it was away from home, popped it easily.
7 and 8 was a house down a slope to a step up bounce to skinny house. People were leaving legs and a horse fall as well. She had a look over the top and kicked on up the step but clear. Then flew the next few, then a really horrible line from the pig, to the corner to the hayrack, had decided I needed to play safe and get this right so went quite slow through that section. Then onto hedge into woods and owl hole out, screwed on the way out. Kicked on down the lane and into the next field, popped the hedge with drop, I kinda thought I was up on the time (had the watch on for the 1st time but hadnt looked at it until now) so eased of a bit. Really made sure i got her back for the very upright skinny trellis, over shot turn to the step into water, popped of step on an angle, popped the triple brush out, Tink thought that was a bit small after the triple brushes at Aston. Really lay off going to the last double and popped that and the last. Finished well inside the time.
So ended on 36
and picked up 5th place, 2 shiny new points I think and money
Had a really nice day, as had plenty of time, watched Baydale showjump and finally got home!!!
Oh and poor Tink got stung by a wasp in the lorry that got under her rug once I had washed her off. Lots of aloe applied!!
Chinese arriving shortly!!!!
