Another horrific situation.

Its pay day today and it would be lovely if everyone who reads this and cares about ponies sent a donation no matter how small to Redwings and Bristol Horseworld to help them through.

I bet we have loads of Welshie owners here me included so I'm sending a donation.

So very sad - breaks my heart. i wish i had my own land, just to be able to take in one rescue. Soon, hopefully.

I dealt with one of these when I was an Inspector, and we managed to get 19 out, but had to put three down on site - all youngsters in a "top eventing yard". Devastating to deal with.

I just get so frustrated when these things keep happening.

What is wrong with people, they never think how they'd cope if they get ill, lose income, get too old / frail etc etc. Most times they are too proud to ask for help before its get to this state and its always the animals who suffer.

I just wonder where all these scum bags hide ? I mean take the Spindles Farm case over 170 animals were neglected, how on earth can someone treat this amount of animals this bad and no one know about it ? When I took in an emaciated horse on livery (that was saved by an owner who should be in jail) he was out in the field, not a public place, very well hidden in the middle of no where and I had countless complaints about the state he was in, obviously explained what had happened and that we were taking care of him, but people were worried! - and the English are supposed to be known for their love of animals !!

People can be so sick

I think perhaps this being in Wales it could possibly have been very remote and perhaps it went on a long time because walkers may have seen shaggy ponies with their winter coats not seeing the bones underneath.

Have just read on FB thats lots of them are tiny babies.

What a start in life

Does Mr H need a NBF that is the question.

I have to say that although the huge majority of welsh studs care for their stock very much there is still a minority churning out foals on a huge scale hoping to breed "the one"

I can honestly say that the welfare of some of these welsh ponies is actually worse than anything ever experienced on the new forest.

I think the WPCS need to look into the breeding of these sections and maybe sanction how many foals a mare can have, similar to restricting the amount of litters of pedigree dogs? I also think the licensing system for colts should consist of more than "2 years of age and 2 balls that'll do system" to one consisting of performance and quality.

Rant over, poor little ponies.

i struggle with all the black and white cobs around here (Darlington area), but the good thing is that they can been seen from the road. A lot of these bad places are well hidden from view.

It was a stable lad who called me about the cruelty at the event yard. Been going on for YEARS :(
