The vet has just phoned - the x-ray didnt show much this morning but the ultrasound showed an area of the gut which had definitely thickened and was of some concern to them.

So they are operating at 3pm this afternoon, he will ring me mid-operation if necessary but otherwise when he has closed up.

Tal is on a drip now to re-hydrate him - please, can I have all your best vibes, you have been fab with your support so far

Awww, bigs ((hugs)) for you and even bigger (((((((hugs)))))) for Talisker, what a miserbale afternoon you're going to have waiting for that phonecall... I really hope he's ok, well done for pestering the vets to do something, I've been following your posts and I'm keeping everything crossed for you. xxx

Thanks so much - I am just terrified now, this morning was bad enough but now I am wondering what on earth they might find when they open him up

Poor lad, I suppose even if it is bad news then it is better than him suffering though

everything crossed...Tal has a top owner waiting for him so will give it a go! GO TAL!!!!!!!!!! I hope they find nothing more than a pair of old underpants and several chickens and half a paddy field of rice. Haz was giant breed remember and went under 9 times in his 5 years! anaesthetics are great nowadays and hopefully this will make Tal all well again and you'll be begging for some peace!

Thanks both - and Lou, I am truly honoured to receive your hugs

I have just googled intussception and havent really learned much - IF that is what he has got - so will just have to wait and see

Luckily I know he hasnt got a heart murmur yet, despite his age (sorry, I'm used to CKCS who always seem to have a murmur by that age!) so that is one positive, and the vet is very used to anaesthetising greyhounds so will be careful with him I know.

Patience never was one of my best things, I am still here fidgeting like a cat on hot bricks now but cant actually get on and do any work

And its another hour before he even starts!

Thank you Cygnet - you managed to confuse me then as I recognised your avatar but not the name

But then I saw your sig, I remembered you as Smart_Cookies

Oh Acolyte let's hope they finally get to the root of his problems. Everything crossed for him and have told my three to keep their paws crossed! The waiting is the hard part, let us know when you find out. Huge hugs and doggy licks.

Thanks Mattilda, I will post an update as soon as I know anything

LOL about your three with their crossed paws - Islay is at home on her own for the first time ever today, and I am dreading finding out what she has done to the house
crazy.gif
I dont think she will be sitting there with her paws crosssed
tongue.gif
Admittedly she is very very good usually, but I think that is due to Taliskers calming influence on her

He will be fine I am sure! and at least the vet now knows what he is dealing with! The gut is not too bad for operating on, and heals well (generally) so you should have nothing to worry about!

*** BIG HUGS! *** let us know when he is out and happy!
