Another then and now thread

Oooh nickel bits!
Tarred haynets.
Ponies in standing stalls with logs and ropes!
Those lights you strapped onto your boot with red at the back and white at the front which weighed half a ton and were visible from .... oooh... twenty feet away?

I'd forgotten the nickel bits, and ponies in stalls:) We bought a more 'modern' version of those lights about 5 years ago, they are no brighter now!

ha ha this really made me laugh. After coming back into horses 2 years ago after a 10 yr break I was amazed how many things had changed. I still remember all these things people have mentioned, especially the teaspoon under the saddle scrapping and deep straw beds and sweat sheets and thatching and canvas NZ with one sewn on surcingle that take forwever to dry and weighed a ton! (do think the new versions are sooo much better though!)

white plastic tendon boots with the metal fastenings. I thought I was SO cool. Clearly I wasn't.

OMG I thought I was an international SJer when I got some of those (in fact I still have a pair somewhere, with a blue stripe on them) - then I got some Clarendon ones and REALLY thought I was cool!

Thinking about this last night, I think the Jill one was...

Heels down, heart up
Hands down, head up,
Knees close to your pony's side
Elbows close to your own

I reckon the author had the same ilk of DC that you did, funny how these things pass down

I certainly remember it being around a lot. I think it's one of those age old things that never seems to pass.
