following on from the "rescued" horses...

how many of us on here have thought that, actually, these poor things are the end result of the closure of Southall Market and such like, and the "OMG, I must rescue a poor pony from the cruel, wicked dealer" syndrome??

i have, on many, many occasions, said, DONT, DONT DONT buy from these types of horse-traders, as, sooner or later it will end in tears...that there will ALWAYS be 2/3 ponies to replace the 1 that was "rescued"...well here it is, the REALITY....NOT ponies for meat, BUT ponies specifically kept for the "ahhh" factor at cruddy sales such as Southall...

what comes around, i'm afraid, goes around....

I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around-in the karma sort of way.

Used to live in Southall-lovely place

Well, having bought 'sad cases' from sales, and seeing them go on to thrive and become good all round family horses, I do think that a lot of horses deserve a second chance.
Many equines end up at sales purely through people over horsing themselves and turning them into problem horses through lack of knowledge and experience.

However, many of these horses are there because they are sick, lame, or unrideable, and I believe people need to wake up and smell the coffee.
If a horse has a serious problem, do the right thing and have it PTS, get the hunt out, or take it to the abbatoir.
It is far kinder than passing your horse on to god knows where simply because you can't face having your horse destroyed. A quick death is infinitely more kind than the painful and prolonged deaths of those poor horses.
