Another thumbs up for Magnetik Headpiece

I was too lazy to read all the last post(s) & got sick of the slaggings off so didn't realise that you were supposed to put it on an hour before riding, or that it went on under the normal headpiece.

I think HBII has got a point and the breadth of the thing is going to spread the pressure and be more comfortable for the horse.

Also, when my young horse had tantrums when first being worked, the one thing that worked for both of us was to tie her up and let her chill out for a while; so maybe the hour of waiting takes the edge off them too.

Now we need some people to try letting their horses wait before riding and source and use a broad headpiece without magnets, to see if its the magnets or not.....

Well we dont use any bridle without the padded headpiece now after getting the Elevator a few yrs ago, I would not go back to a "normal" bridle. The magnetic one has proved itself with one mare who went better in it then even the elevator. The other mare was only a problem on being hacked alone, again a big difference in her attitude. I think it is Richard Davison who swears by the Elevator & I do think there is something in the fact that the poll area is padded. But short of asking the horse, I dont suppose we will ever really know.

well as you say unless we actually test it im not sure we will !! and who is to say there are magnets in the barnsby headpiece ?? we wouldnt know either way would we !!

Im sure though that someone would of come up with a wider head piece on all bridles if this was it ???

'' goes off to design headpiece like the barnsby one with no magnets ''

x

if you go to the barnsby site it tells you what to do !! but my success is at a show so put it on while travelling not in the stable - my boy also comes in a while before i ride and i only put it on the headcoller (not bridle) so he isnt tacked up first !!

I think you will find under trades description that they would be in an awful lot of trouble if anyone found out differently. I think it is something like a 5k fine for every offence & a crimminal record!

Which does rather beg the question why the companies flogging these things haven't tested them properly...
I believe that a company that sells magnetic stuff for people has been invesitgated by the OFT and have had to withdraw certain unsubstantiated claims about their products.

we wernt talking about the magnetic headpiece but about testing a wide headpiece to even out the pressure !!

But my point was why haven't the companies selling the magnetic headpieces researched whether any effect is due to the magnets or the shape/width of the headpiece?

They may well have done and found there isn't any effect...I know of a company who commissioned some "independent" research last year into the efficacy of a product compared to the competition. The research showed absolutely no difference between theirs and the competitive product, therefore the research was never published and is now never discussed! Had it been proven that the it was better than the competition, they would have shouted about it. As there's no actual proof, it's glossed over....

Quite, and in fact the majority of the proper randomised double-blind trials that I have found have shown that magnets have no significant effect...

Magic; I'm really not sure you can compare backs to brains. Obviously more people have a belief that magnets do something; what, no-one appears to know for sure, otherwise those of us who are nervous about using something like this near the brain wouldn't have any qualms about it.

The troubling thing for me is that yes I am quite prepared to say that magnets may work, but because I don't know exactly what they do or how they achieve the results they do, I simply could not ever put something like this near a brain frequently or for lengthy periods of time ESPECIALLY after reading of the extreme changes which have occurred.

I have bought an elevator bridle and it hasnt really made ANY difference to my horse.

Would a magnetic headpiece or am I just looking for a quick fix solution that does not exist?
